Things we put ourselves through

6:30am the alarm goes off and my day has begun.

Put on the first short I grab, make some coffee and head out

Pull up to the mall around 6:55am, ready to work at my minimum wage paying retail job.

Now, I understand we have an un-employment rate of 9.8% in this country, I am very thankful for my job. It's just not what I expected after college.
You do all the "right" things, but life has its way of not working out the way you think.

For the first few weeks I was down on my self, have a "woe is me" attitude. But the more I work and the more people I meet I relalize God has me here for a purpose. I get to be a missonary at the mall, thats pretty sweet if you ask me.

ps. I have 2 really great shows coming up @ Murray Hill Theatre in Jax, come on out!

Be blessed

TOUR and a New Home!

So tour was great. God is doing amazing things in this country and I am honored that I was able to worship with so many cool people.

Although we had an awesome time on the road, it was a lot of work. Not only did I never sleep, but I had to drive a ton. Oh yeah, we broke down twice. The first time was in Mississippi. The fuel pump stopped pumping and well, the car would not go. So we sent Kelly and Rusty to get help and Chris and I set up and play an amazing set on the side of the Highway. One guy even stopped to talk for a while, All in all it was a pretty good brake down.
The car wasn't fixed in time for us to play in Slidell, LA. So they sent someone to come get us. They had to drive an hour just to pick us up. We got there right on time and God did some awesome things.

The second brake down was not as fun. It was about 5 am and we were cruising down 95, making great time might I add, out of no where the car screamed at us and then died...for real. The engine was destroyed. Super lame.

But we made it back in one piece and with lots of great memories.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while...

So it begins

So I have had the most exciting and stressful month of my life. That's a pretty bold statement I know. But look at this. In the last month I have been pushing my music career more than ever. Trying my hardest to help book dates for tour, and I have been in the process of buying my first home.
I must be crazy.
God has been doing amazing thing though. I can't wait to go and play my songs to others across the country. This is what I have wanted to do my entire life and know I am on the brink!
As I go for two weeks I ask that you not only pray for me and Rusty, but you also pray for our wives, who will be in a new city without us.

Thanks for all your support and prayers and I will be back soon to blog about the tour!!!

Peace

The Final Countdown

One of the greatest Rock ballades of all time has to be " The Final Countdown" By Europe. That song can pretty much some up this last week for me.

As all two of my readers know, I am moving to Melbourne, FL the end of July to help plant a new church. This week will mark my last in the wonderful city of Jacksonville. I have called it my home for 5 years, but it's time for me to say goodbye.

I have been blessed by so many people in this city and all I have to say is THANK YOU.
We will not be going alone. My pastor of 9 years will be the head of Grace Church so that will be sweet, and also my bassist and great friend Rusty and His wife will be making the move as well(they kinda already have, long story don't have the time to get into it.)

The countdown has begun and next Thursday July 30th my wife and I will be loading a rental truck with all our stuff and driving south to our new home.

Well, for now I am going to a BBQ with some friends so until next time...

Chillin' in the 321

So far a good trip to Melbourne.
Looks like after a few weeks of stress we might get finacing for our house after all. Thanks you Jesus! Still not sure about moving date. We are still hoping to be in by the end of the month. We'll keep you posted.

Yesterday the wife and I got to watch space shuttle Endeavor blast off from the beach. Not the most exciting launch, mainly because it went behind clouds right after lift off. But at least we got to see one of the last shuttle launches. I like when it breaks the sound barrier. You can hear and feel the boom!

Summer tour is coming together. For dates check ryanshelley.com

Another day to Stand Firm

Spent another day driving around Jax drooping off flowers at various shops. Really not a bad gig. It's easy and I get to meet new people all the time. At least I have a Job, Thanks Jesus!

After work, I drove 3 hours south to my future home Melbourne, FL. It's usually not a bad drive but today was terrible. I think I drove through 3 monsoons, could not see the cars around me at all. Kinda scary.

Now I am just chilling at my parents house, eating their food. I miss High School.

Tour Dates are up, check out my pages!

Rainy Days and Lasagna

So yet again we have another rainy day in the sunshine state. Beautiful. I have had quite the productive day and it's barely noon.

Delivered flowers this morning to a 400 pound florist.
Cleaned and packed the garage.
Checked the mail AND sent out a letter.
Took out the trash.
Went to the bank.
Went to Goodwill.
And ate a hefty portion of homemade lasagna. YUM!

While I would love to reward myself for this hard work with a nap, I still have too much to do. For all of you who care...as I'm sure there are many of you with this being my 3rd day as a blogger...I'm playing at Jack Rabbits in downtown Jax this weekend. I'm really excited about bringing the Gospel to a place where it's not often found. Be in prayer that the Holy Spirit will move mightily.
